Lucille was born in Jamestown on August 6th , 1911, and shortly thereafter she and her parents moved to Montana, where Henry (Lucy's father) was employed as a telephone lineman. For Henry had a very dangerous job due to the weather, and much more, his family was strong and always there for him. Little Lucy loved her father very much and always cherished her time with him. Felling always security in his hands, at an early age Lucy began to develop her fearless approach to physical comedy.
The family moved to Wyandotte, Michigan, in late 1914 for Henry's job. Now Henry continued working for a telephone company. One day he climbed up poles to secure dangerous telephone wiring in the middle of a snow storm, He caught a terrible case of Influenza. As the days went by his condition got worse and turned into typhoid fever, which led to his death in 1915. And during this time DeDe (Lucy's mother) was 4 mouths pregnant with her second child and Lucy was just three years old. With out any income DeDe and Lucille moved back to Jamestown, into the home of DeDe's parents, Fred and Flora Belle Hunt.
Lucille's brother, Fred Henry was born on July 1915. And of him coming into the world Lucy was very Jealous of "Freddy"; but these feelings did go away and replaced with a sense of understanding. Freddy become the man of the house, because of the death of Henry. and at this he was very Important to the family. Freddy begin calm and affectionate and Lucille was the ball of fire. But with her not liking her bother she just couldn't stand it anymore, she started to adore him. They became that brother and sister that were close and always at each other.
